WLSA-Malawi, with funding from Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA), is implementing a project that aims to improve food production, sustainable livelihood security and gender equality in the context of the changing climate. The project is promoting Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), developing the capacity of rural households to adapt to climate change and reduce gender imbalances between men and women, boys and girls in a quest of realising sustainable development in Nkhotakota district.
As part of its efforts to achieve reduced emissions of greenhouse gasses from agricultural lands as a climate change mitigating strategy WLSA is promoting conservation farming systems supported by improved agronomic practices e.g. reduced-tillage methods, managing planting populations to ensures crops are not over- nor under-crowded, promoting composite manure making, promoting agro forestry and afforestation interventions and promoting integrated livestock production
